Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to services provided by M.W HOME IMPROVEMENTS (PVT) LIMITED. Specific quotations may contain additional terms relating to an individual project.
1. Quotations and Estimates
Quotations will normally be valid for 14 days from the date they are issued, unless a different validity period is stated on the individual quotation.
Quotations are based on the information, requirements and property conditions known at the time they are prepared. The final price may change if additional work, unforeseen issues or customer-requested changes are identified after work begins.
Any significant additional cost will be discussed with the customer before the additional work is carried out.
2. Free Initial Site Visit & Quote
Where offered, our Free Initial Site Visit & Quote allows us to assess the work required, discuss the customer's requirements, take measurements where necessary and prepare a quotation.
The initial site visit itself is free. It does not include repair, installation, materials, labour or any other chargeable work.
Any additional work requested during or after the initial visit will be subject to the customer's agreement and may be chargeable.
3. Booking and Deposit
A booking is confirmed when the customer accepts the quotation and any booking requirements stated in that quotation have been satisfied.
A 30% deposit will normally be required before work begins, particularly where materials need to be purchased or the job requires advance preparation, unless different payment terms are agreed in writing.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Customers should provide as much notice as reasonably possible if they need to cancel or change an appointment.
Where costs have already reasonably been incurred for an agreed project, including materials specifically purchased for the work, those costs may need to be taken into account when a booking is cancelled, subject to the customer's statutory rights.
If we need to reschedule because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will contact the customer to arrange an alternative date.
5. Materials
Unless otherwise agreed, materials required for the work may be purchased by M.W Home Improvements and included in the quotation.
Where a customer requests a particular product, colour, brand or material, the customer is responsible for confirming that the selection meets their requirements. Where the customer supplies materials, we cannot guarantee the suitability, quality or performance of those materials.
6. Customer Responsibilities
The customer must provide reasonable access to the property and the areas where work is being carried out.
Customers should remove valuable, fragile or personal belongings from the working area before work begins. Where reasonably possible, furniture and other items should also be moved away from the working area.
7. Existing Surfaces and Hidden Problems
Some property conditions may not be visible until work begins, including damp, mould, damaged plaster, uneven surfaces, rotten materials, defective flooring or other hidden defects.
Where such issues affect the agreed work, additional preparation or remedial work may be required. Any significant additional cost will be discussed with the customer before proceeding.
8. Changes to the Work
Changes or additional work requested after a quotation has been accepted may result in additional charges. Where practical, we will confirm the additional cost before carrying out the additional work.
9. Payment
Payment arrangements will be stated in the applicable quotation or invoice. Unless different payment terms are agreed in writing, a 30% deposit will normally be required before work begins and the remaining balance will normally be due upon completion of the agreed work.
For larger projects, staged payments or other payment arrangements may be agreed in writing in advance. Invoices must be paid by the agreed payment date.
10. Late Payment
Where an invoice remains unpaid after the agreed payment date, we may request payment before carrying out further work and may seek recovery of reasonable costs associated with overdue payment where legally permitted.
11. Workmanship
M.W Home Improvements will carry out agreed work with reasonable care and skill.
The final appearance of decorative or improvement work can be affected by existing surfaces, lighting, moisture, previous workmanship and the condition of the property.
12. Completion and Inspection
Customers should inspect completed work and raise any concerns as soon as reasonably possible. Where a genuine workmanship issue is identified, we will assess the issue and, where appropriate, arrange reasonable corrective work.
13. Warranty
Any workmanship warranty offered will depend on the type of work and will be confirmed in the quotation or invoice where applicable.
Warranty coverage does not normally include damage caused by misuse, accidents, movement of the building, damp, leaks, condensation, structural problems, third-party work, defective customer-supplied materials or normal wear and tear.
14. Cleaning and Protection
We will make reasonable efforts to protect the working area and clean up after completing the work. Some dust, debris or minor residue may be unavoidable during home improvement work.
A specialist or deep clean is not included unless specifically stated in the quotation.
15. Access and Parking
The customer is responsible for providing reasonable access to the property. Where parking permits, parking charges or other access costs are required, these may be payable by the customer unless included in the quotation.
16. Photos and Completed Work
With the customer's permission, M.W Home Improvements may take photographs or video of completed work for quality records and promotional purposes.
We will not intentionally publish identifiable personal information or images of customers without appropriate permission.
17. Property Damage
We will take reasonable care while carrying out work. Certain work may involve normal risks to existing surfaces and fixtures, particularly where they are old, fragile, damaged or improperly installed. Significant foreseeable risks will be discussed where appropriate.
18. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible. We will review the issue and aim to resolve genuine concerns fairly and reasonably.
19. Consumer Cancellation Rights
Customers may have statutory cancellation rights under UK consumer law, including in circumstances where an agreement is entered into away from our business premises or at a distance.
Where a customer asks us to begin work during an applicable statutory cancellation period, additional requirements may apply. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
20. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
Subject to applicable law, M.W Home Improvements is not responsible for losses resulting from pre-existing defects, unsuitable customer-supplied materials, hidden defects, structural problems or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
21. Unforeseen Circumstances
We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, supply shortages, unexpected property defects, emergencies, illness, access problems or other events that could not reasonably have been anticipated or prevented.
22. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Scotland. Any dispute will be subject to the applicable Scottish courts, subject to the customer's statutory rights.
23. Acceptance
Acceptance of a quotation or commencement of the agreed work constitutes acceptance of the terms applicable to that project, including these Terms & Conditions and any specific terms contained in the quotation.
